The Leopard man essay

Today in society people can be either conformity or nonconformity. In Logan Fey's article, "The Society of Leopard Man", he says," Normally I find myself unimpressed with individuals who radically change their appearance through Extreme tattooing, Piercings, hair mutilations etc. Such people are desperate for society's attention." He basically states that most of the time be part of society but the other part to get it of you mind. I personally agree to a certain point. Not all they people who are different change for attention.

Fey's argument says, "Society tends to discourage people from expressing their unique ideas and behaving in ways that are different from their peers." Leopard man is a great example. Although leopard man has tattoos all over his body and lives in isolation, he doesn't care about what other people say. Tom Leppard, known as the Leipard Man is 60 years old and lives in the Scottich wilderness. He basically live the life of a leopard. Logan explains to us that we are scared of the things we don't understand.

Leopard Man changed his appearance for himself. He doesn't want to bring attention he just is the way he is. People's comments don't bother him, he goes on with this life. In my eyes he lives like a normal person. The author says, "He ventures into civilization only when he needs food and supplies, he wears clothing to cover up his colorful body."  When he's is himself it is when he's free. Some people think it's a freak out of this world, some people actually like the way he is. I for example like how the leopard man is, he does what make them happy. Not all freaks are freaky, some actually are worth being around with.

In elementary school a girl transferred from Washington. She was one of those people who were very loud but she wouldn't hang out with anybody. She was tough, but very caring that was made nonconformist. From the look of the girl she was like everyone else, but in inside there was something different. I thought she was a little freaky, but sometimes she wasn't. She, not hanging out with any one, was happy.

Logan said "Society tends to discourage people from expressing their unique ideas and behaving in ways that are different from their peers." I agree with him to a certain point. Not every on changes to get opinions from other people. I would encourage you to not judge people until you really know who they are. I know that's not to happen, so from time to time go with society and other times don't.
